Our Road Trip Starts

Our road trip started today in Perth. My sister and her boyfriend wanted to see the outback, so here we are :-) We drove for about 700km, through the green Swan Valley, passed the last traffic light, stopped for lunch at New Norcia and watched how the landscape slowly changed - the soil turned from light yellow into this beautiful dark red and the vegetation decreased in size and numbers.


We stayed for the night at Nallan Station - a huge sheep farm in the middle of... well not much. We booked into the shearers quarter but were kindly upgraded to the old cottage as they expected a bus full of (loud) backpackers :-) A 3 course meal was served on a long table in the main farm house together with the family, farm workers and guests. From the women next to me I got to know all the latest gossip in and around Cue, the closest village. When they were talking about 'just outside Cue', this might as well mean at least 100km away - dimensions are relative out here :-)
